Mark your calendars for an unforgettable experience as we bring history to life in a unique way.

On October 28th and 29th, 2023, the Pioneer Village Museum will be hosting an event that pays tribute to our hometown heroes and unfolds the captivating chapters of our past. This two-day event, dubbed “Hometown Heroes & Living History Celebration,” promises to be an educational and interactive experience for all attendees.

Recognizing the Efforts of Our Hometown Heroes

Our hometown heroes are those brave individuals who put their lives on the line for the safety and security of our communities. They are the first-responders, the fire departments, law enforcement officers, emergency managers, EMT’s, dispatchers, and amateur radio operators. They are the people who step up in times of crisis, who respond when disaster strikes, and who ensure our everyday safety. This event is our way of saying thank you for their invaluable contribution to our community. We are proud to offer free admittance to all first responders with ID as a token of our appreciation.

Experience Our Living History

Experience history like never before! Our living history encampments will be displayed with reenactor interpretation, transporting visitors back in time. You will have the opportunity to interact with historical figures and gain a deeper understanding of our shared past. This immersive experience is designed to educate, entertain, and inspire attendees of all ages.

Interact with Historical and Contemporary Vehicles

In addition to the living history encampments, attendees will have the chance to see, touch, and interact with historical and contemporary vehicles. This interactive display will give you a unique perspective on the evolution of transportation and technology over the years.

Experience Live High-Frequency Amateur (HAM) Radio Operations

Amateur radio, also known as HAM radio, is a hobby that has stood the test of time, with operators communicating across cities, countries, and even into space. During the event, live High-Frequency Amateur (HAM) Radio operators will hold local programs, giving attendees a firsthand experience of this fascinating communication method. This is a rare opportunity to learn about the important role amateur radio plays in emergency communication, disaster relief, and fostering global friendships.

So, mark your calendars and come join us at the Pioneer Village Museum on October 28-29, 2023, for the Hometown Heroes & Living History Celebration. This event promises to be not only a tribute to our everyday heroes but also an immersive journey through time. Whether you’re a history buff, a fan of vintage vehicles, or someone looking for a fun and educational outing, this celebration has something for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you!
